Gordon A. Manson Artist

I knew while growing up in Manitoba that I was
destined to be an artist. From an early age I expressed my love of Nature and
wild life, through the use of oils, pen and ink and graphite. Dogsled racing on
the international midwest circuit proved to be further subject for my artist
fire. Studies at the University of Manitoba, where I switched to acrylics on
canvas, honed my skills needed to express my energy and enthusiasm for outdoor
life. A series of exhibitions and awards in British Columbia's lower mainland
led me to my first one-man show, "Canadian Landscapes" in Maple Ridge in 1993.
Following award winning projects in animation, cinematography and graphic arts
with Sesame Street, Manitoba Tourism and the National Film Board, among others,
my thirst for new methods of expression sent me in ever expanding artist
directions, including creating original leather apparel and accessories and
jewellery making. Further studies at University of British Columbia and Emily
Carr College of Art have raised my skills as an artist. I now call BC's Thompson
River Region home. There I train my horses and continue to draw and paint what
inspires me.
